Christian Dior Couture Spring 2013
Opening the Haute Couture week with Christian Dior is a pleasure.
The show isn’t intimidating or too theatrical. It’s pure minimalism and elegant. Set on the garden-looked alike hall (no flower walls this time), the show started with a grey ankle-length gown with black detailing on the corset, continued with barrage of Raf Simons’s classic couture. Simple tops with volume skirts.
The gowns that really fascinate me are the flower-embroided ones. They’re so romantic and very-Dior. But, I have to admit, there are some numbers that don’t really get the ‘Haute Couture’ feelings like suits or too-black gowns.
It’s hard not to compare Galliano with Simons -with all those dramas, but this time I feel like Simons slowly adapting with Dior’s culture and Dior, itself, slowly accepting Simons’s own aesthetic. This man can make a lot of differences not just in Dior but in fashion world.
P.S : But, can he used another theme next season ? Not just flowers, florals, garden, blah blah blah. Still, excellent show !
